We all want sexy muscles. Isn’t it? If you would like to get those sexy and strong calves in your body, there are only 4 simple exercises you would need to perform. What you also need to know is that your calves are made up of two types of muscles: the gastrocnemius and soleus. You can see the gastrocnemius muscle when you lift your heels off the ground and the soleus which is larger of the two and is responsible for the shape and the tone you are looking for in your calves!

Seated Calf Raise

You need to target the soleus muscle by doing seated calf raise positions. It doesn’t matter whether you have access to a gym or not, you can even do these at your home. You can use a dumbbell. Sit on a chair and keep your thighs parallel to the floor. Place your weight on your knees. Holding on to the weight, do 10-12 seated calf raises then switch legs. Repeat 3 times.

Standing Calf Raise

Just like the seated calf raise exercise, you don’t need a gym for this one too. Stand straight and tall on your one leg and hold dumbbells in each hand. Lift your heels off the ground. Do 12-15 reps and repeat 3 times.


The Stairmaster is one of the major exercises if you want to work your calves. Do it slowly and there is no need to keep the pace fast. Also, make sure you do all of the steps on your toes only.

Jump Rope

What can be better than jumping ropes? This is one of the ultimate calf workouts. You need to stay on your toes and your calves will start to pain within the first 3 minutes of your jump. But jumping rope  is also fun and provides cardio benefits as well.
